What’s Going On In Dave’s Grow? | Transplanting Clones

Thanks for tuning in! This week I show off my gorgeous genetics from a great resource for clones and we are going to be transplanting these clones. This company specializes in unique genetics and I have to say, I am very impressed with the strains they sent me.

So why transplant clones?

We have transplanted plants before on Dave’s Grow, but today we are transplanting clones. I was sent 3 strains (x2) and as you see in the video I transplant all 6 of these plants into 3-gallon plastic pots. But why transplant at all? Why not just start clones in 3-gallon pots if that’s where they will end up?

The answer is root growth. I like to transplant a few times during my grow to allow the plant to completely get its roots saturated with water each time I feed. If I have an itty-bitty plant in a giant pot, there is no way that little plant can soak up all the water in the container. Starting in a smaller container prevents overwatering and allows the roots to grow to their full potential. Next time you have a small plant, start it in a smaller container like a quart. Once it gets big enough, pull that baby out of the container and you will see an amazing amount of roots from that smaller container. Lots of roots mean a healthy plant.

So why clones?

Clones are great because you know exactly what you are getting when you buy a clone. These clones come from a well-established mother plant. If the clone resource is good, they have pheno-hunted all the plants and selected the best ones to take clones from. This ensures you will have a strong and healthy plant with proven genetics.

Free World Genetics has a nice array of genetics to choose from. I am so excited to see how these plants turn out. The even growth I am seeing is a good sign that these plants will stack on the buds as we move further into flower.
