When I decided to start cultivating at home back in 2012 I had a laundry list of things that needed to be accomplished before I could begin. For starters, I had to research the legalities of growing at home in my state (which you should also do). I live in Colorado and decided to get a MED card so I could start growing indoors and know what my legal plant count would be as well as all the criteria for having a legal home grow.
Next, there were hours and hours of research spent after work at night trying to figure out what exactly I needed to buy to start this home grow. I settled on a starter grow tent kit from a hydro shop and I purchased an LED grow light and I was on my way. Over the years, through trial and error, I spent a lot of time trying new products and grow methods so I could figure out what worked best for me.
I started a podcast called Growcast which I created with my beloved wife Kathryn (The Stoner Mom). The podcast was a 13-part series focused on cultivation techniques. We changed the name of the podcast to Mom and Dad are Stoned and changed the format to a conversational podcast where we imbibe and have great conversations.
Flash forward a couple of years and I started to post grow-focused videos on thestonermom.com (wifey’s popular site). We also co-write a growers guide available on that site for new cultivators in conjunction with Botanicare. We even started our very own small-batch hemp grow and sell it online at happyflowercompany.com.
As you can imagine, cultivating cannabis is more than just a hobby for me, it’s really become a passion in my life. So I decided to start this website where I could share my experiences with growing and hopefully inspire some new growers to start their own grow-focused projects. There is no judgment here.
